Makati City hosts the world’s largest environmental event in history, Earth Hour. Ayala Land together with World Wide Fund (WWF) and the Makati City LGU will celebrate the event on 31 March 2012 (Saturday). The event will be held at the Ayala Triangle Gardens and Tower One & Exchange Plaza (TOEP) fountain area for the ceremonial switching off of the lights. Entire duration of the event is 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
To start the celebration, there will be a street parade along Ayala Avenue to be participated by the recent Caracol Festival winners, selected students from Makati City schools, delegations from the Makati City government offices, different barangays, Bailes con Luces and a group from Ayala Land. It will start at 6:00 p.m. in front of the Makati Central Fire Station on Ayala Extension then cross Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue to the two innermost eastbound lanes of Ayala Avenue until Paseo de Roxas, then turn a little left to the westbound lanes and left to TOEP Exit driveway going towards the program venue. Eastbound vehicles along Ayala Avenue shall be confined on the two outermost lanes until the tail end of the parade reaches the intersection of Paseo de Roxas.
As the parade head marshals approach the intersection of Paseo de Roxas, westbound lanes of Ayala Avenue from Makati Avenue to Paseo de Roxas will be temporarily closed to traffic until the tail end gets inside the TOEP driveway. Traffic Rerouting: Vehicles along Ayala Avenue from EDSA going towards the direction of Gil Puyat Avenue shall turn right at Makati Avenue, left a Paseo de Roxas and right at Ayala Avenue to destination. Vehicles along Paseo de Roxas from Legaspi Village going towards the direction of Gil Puyat Avenue shall turn right at Ayala Avenue, left at Makati Avenue to destination. Please refer to below map.
