Close to 900 male and female inmates from the Makati City Jail will be screened for Tuberculosis (TB) on Tuesday, February 6.

Project HEAL (Healthy and Active Lungs) aims to eradicate TB cases inside jail facilities. Aside from chest x-rays, the inmates will also receive free random blood sugar (RBS) testing as well as HIV screening.

Based on Makati City Jail records, there were 13 cases of Drug Susceptible TB and 1 case of Drug Resistant TB among male inmates. There were no reported cases of TB among female inmates.

The progam will be attended by Mayor Abby Binay and representatives from the Department of Health, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and the Philippine Business for Social Progress.
