Makati Mayor Jejomar C. Binay congratulated and hailed the 38 graduates of Electrical Building Wiring, Welding and Fabrication, and Computer Technician of the Makati Training, Placement, and Livelihood Consortia (MTPLC) who all took and passed the trade test or skill assessment examination of the Technical Education and Skills Development Academy (TESDA) last July.

Dr. Editha Chan, MTPLC president said the 38 graduates now hold a Certificate of Competency (COC) and are now licensed to work in any TESDA-accredited company here and abroad.

The TESDA assessment process seeks to determine whether or not graduates of technical and vocational courses can perform in the workplace based on the defined competency standards. Certification is provided to those who meet the competency standards.

Chan said the three MTPLC’s hard skills training programs got a 100 passing rate as all the 15 graduates of Electrical Building Wiring, 15 graduates of Welding, and 18 graduates of Computer Technician who took the skill assessment test last July all passed the exam.

Binay, also congratulated the 11 hard skills trainors of the MTPLC for being accredited as TESDA assessors. The said trainors received their national certification, level two and now conduct competency assessment process for persons applying for certification.

The following newly TESDA Accredited Assessors (National Certification Level 2) are: Prof. Ramero Caballeda (ICT Assessor); Prof. Gilberto Bautista (Electrical Building Wiring); Prof. Jefferson del Rosario (Electrical Building Wiring); Prof. Ferdinand Pacis (Mechanical); Prof. Oliver Santos (Ref & Air-con); Prof. Yolanda Bonaobra (Call Center); Prof. Richard Ngo (Call Center); Prof. Olga Nova (Waitering & Bartending); Prof. Jennifer Tutanes (Waitering & Bartending); Prof. Erlino Apuyan ( Cellphone Repair & Technician); Prof. Apollo Mambiar (Automotive).

Last year, the MTPLC received the TESDA Training Achievement Award for having achieved its training targets. Likewise, TESDA cited Binay for his dynamic leadership and invaluable support to technical education and skills development in Makati.

The MTPLC is a special arm of the city government that aims to equip residents with appropriate technical skills and competencies attuned to current industrial demands and livelihood opportunities.

Recently, it opened its motorcycle servicing training program, the latest addition to the hard skills training programs it offers, which include Auto-Cad Operator, Automotive Mechanics, Call Center, Computer Technician, Cellphone Technician, Electrical Building Wiring, Ref-Aircon Technician, and Welding and Fabrication.
