1,041 job seekers join Makati’s Mega Job Fair, 137 hired on-the-spot
A total of 1,041 job seekers joined the Mega Job Fair held by the city government of Makati last Thursday at Glorietta 3 Activity Center. Of these, 137 were hired on-the-spot and 339 were qualified for further screening by participating companies, according to the city Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
Makati Mayor Abby Binay thanked everyone who participated in the job fair, and commended PESO and partner-companies for the success of the event, which was part of the ten-day “Makati Makisalo” festival that marked the city’s 348th foundation day.
“I would like to thank our Makatizens and jobseekers from other localities who availed themselves of the opportunity to land a job at our job fair. Your participation has given meaning to our celebration which is centered on the concept of inclusive growth,” Mayor Abby said.
“The city government and the people of Makati are also grateful to the 50 companies that participated in the event. We look forward to a sustained partnership with you in making gainful employment accessible to all Makati residents as well as non-residents,” the mayor said.
In a report to the mayor, Makati PESO chief Vissia Marie Aldon said that 391 Makatizens consisting of 278 females and 113 males registered at the mega job fair. Some 650 non-residents composed of 393 females and 257 males also joined the activity.
The companies that supported the job fair included Ablebodies Manpower Services, Absolute Sales Inc., Andok’s Litson, Asiapro Cooperative, Ayala Malls Inc., Bench (Suyen Corporation), Burlington Industries, Citiworks Manpower Resources Corporation, Dames International, Eperformax, Fieldmen Janitorial Services Corp., Goldilocks, Hi-Precision Diagnostic Corporation, JTC Group Of Companies, Mirof Resources, Inc., North Asia Central Manpower Services Inc., and the Philippine Survey Research Center (PSRC) among others.
Government agencies that were on hand to assist jobseekers included the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Pag-Ibig, PhilHealth, and Social Security System (SSS).
Meanwhile, Makatizens are also encouraged to join the city government’s in-house job fair regularly conducted every Wednesday at PESO located at the 5th floor of Makati City Hall Main Building.
