Mayor Abby grants loyalty incentives to over 900 City Hall employees



Makati Mayor Abby Binay on Monday led a ceremonial tribute to some 984 loyal civil servants of the city government who have been in the service for at least 10 continuous years, and have qualified for cash incentives under the loyalty award and incentive program launched last year.


During the ceremony dubbed ‘Makati Public Servants’ Appreciation Day’, the mayor led city hall officials and employees in honoring former Vice President Jejomar Binay for his exemplary leadership as Mayor of Makati for over two decades.


In her speech, Mayor Abby acknowledged her father as an outstanding public servant worthy of emulation.


She also exhorted all city government workers to strive for excellence in the performance of their duties, assuring them of her commitment to reward deserving and qualified employees with security of tenure and career advancement.


One of her priorities, she said, was the updating of the plantilla positions of the city government, which dated back to 1990. She noted that once these have been updated to suit the prevailing needs and demands of a highly urbanized city which the local government unit must effectively meet, it would be easier to realize the envisioned professionalization of the city government work force.


To date, almost 500 deserving and qualified personnel have been regularized or promoted since the mayor took office in July 2016.


Last year, over 4,000 city employees comprised the pioneer batch of recipients of the loyalty incentive program launched by the administration of Mayor Abby. Each received a certificate of recognition and cash incentives, as follows: 40 years in service and above, P20,000; 35 years up to 39 years in service, P17,500; 30 years up to 34 years, P15,000; 25 years up to 29 years in service, P12,500; 20 years up to 24 years, P10,000; 15 years up to 19 years, P7,500; and 10 years up to 14 years, P5,000. The city spent about P79.7 million for the cash incentives.


This year’s batch of awardees consist of 728 regular employees and 256 casual employees, including those who have rendered 10 years of service as of December 31, 2017. The city has allocated almost P6 million for the cash incentives.


They come from 39 offices and departments of the city government, namely: Accounting Department, Assessment Department, Business Permit Office, City Budget Department, Civil Service Registration Office, Economic Enterprise Management Office, Education Department, Department of Engineering and Public Works, Environmental Services Department, Finance Department, General Services Department, Human Resources Development Office, Information and Community Relations Department, Internal Management Control Office, International Relations Department.


Law Department, Liga ng mga Barangay, Makati Action Center, Makati Cooperative Development Office, Makati Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Makati Health Department, Makati Social Welfare Department, Museum and Cultural Affairs Office, Office of the City Administrator, Office of the City Building Official, Office of the Mayor, Office of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, Office of the Secretary of the Sanggunian, Office of the Vice Mayor, Ospital ng Makati, Public Safety Department, University of Makati, Urban Development Department, Veterinary Services Office, Youth and Sports Development Department, Regional Trial Court, Prosecutor’s Office, Makati Post Office and Commission on Audit.
